Content

While most low-level players and free-trial casuals tend to overlook the importance of Gil, adventurers who are already at end-game content know full well how essential Gil is. When gamers reach the level cap and have obtained end-game gear, they will start focusing on glamour items, mounts, and houses. The FFXIV community is famous for focusing on the cosmetics aspect of the game, which is where Gils are usually used. Players will need to know where and how to have more than enough to buy items to their hearts' content. Thankfully, by following this FFXIV how-to make Gil guide, they'll learn to do precisely that.

Why is Gil Important in FF14?

In terms of gear and character progression, Gil isn't that important. Players can acquire high-level and end-game equipment just by doing raids and challenges. This type of currency impacts players' progression, but it can be overlooked.

For hardcore players, Gil can be used for various power-up expenses like melding, materia, and tomestones. They can also be used to buy consumables that will give out multiple buffs, but more casual players can choose not to engage in these transactions. However, many other activities will require gamers to have a ton of Gil.

Besides the usual sinkholes such as glamours and housing, this main FFXIV currency is mainly used to buy gear, crafting materials, potions, teleportation, and other consumables. Other than tank mains, players barely buy any offensive or defensive items since they can acquire equipment eventually. Those who spend their money on buying gear are people who just want to keep their sets updated to the latest meta.

Teleportation and buying crafting materials are the most common sinkholes for Gil. Teleportation will definitely eat away at players' Gil due to how often players use them to go to and from cities. Meanwhile, crafting ingredients are usually bought in bundles by crafters. Though these materials can be gathered, many trade skillers prefer to buy them from the market to save time.

FFXIV: How to Make Gil

While many players would debate about the importance of Gil in the game, no one can argue that this currency is very functional and essential in certain aspects. Therefore, adventurers should know how to gather up and save Gil for potential future expenditures. Here are some of the best ways to gather this FFXIV currency:

  • Treasure Hunts
  • Ventures
  • Eureka
  • Crafting
  • Gathering
  • Roulettes
  • Challenge Logs
  • Buying Them

Some of these activities yield more money than others. In addition, some of these are tedious and time-consuming, which is why some players avoid them. However, there are ways to acquire this currency, but they are against ToS.

Treasure Hunts

This activity can be considered one of the most lucrative sources for Gil. While doing things in the Disciple of Land, players have the chance to acquire Treasure Maps. However, maps can also be obtained or picked up from the Market Board.

If gamers have the Decipher skill, they can examine the map and be given a general location of a treasure. These treasures will be guarded by a boss or elite monster, which gamers will have to defeat to loot the reward. A successful treasure hunt will yield tons of EXP, Allagan Tomestones, and Gil.

Ideally, treasure hunters should do this activity with other people. Doing it at a party ensures that gamers can beat the monster guarding the treasure. At the same time, they can do a Treasure Map rotation to get more loot. However, hunting for treasure can still be done solo.

Venture

While it may not be as lucrative as the other activities, Ventures are one of the most consistent sources of Gil in the game. This feature allows players to send their retainers to complete various small quests without any Gil costs or energy consumption. Gamers only need to wait for their companions to return and turn in the rewards.

Venture is a passive way of income. Players do not need to do anything actively to get rewards from this activity. They only need to ensure that they have retainers at any given moment. As these units do more quests, they grow progressively more robust, enabling them to unlock Quick Explorations. These will allow them to do tasks at a much faster rate.

To start doing Ventures, players will need to unlock the feature by completing the main quests offered by the Scions of the Seventh Dawn at level 17. Once this is done, gamers can gear up their units for their future missions. However, players should note that sending retainers to do quests needs a currency known as "Venture." Fortunately, this token is very easy to acquire since it can be obtained by trading company seals after doing tribe quests and levemetes.

Eureka

This raid instance is included as one of the best sources of Gil in the game. The 144-instance provides various loot that provides in-demand items that are highly profitable in the market. A lot of players constantly engage in this activity.

Eureka's Forbidden Land presents a whole new challenge for players. However, this feature can only be unlocked once the mission "And We Shall Call It Eureka" has been finished. This task can be acquired from Rhalgr's Reach through Galiena. Gamers should note that Eureka cannot be accessed via the Duty Finder. They should look for Rodney and complete missions to be eligible for entry.

In this instance raid, players will need to look for and acquire Anemos lockboxes and Cracked Clusters, containing several profitable items. Players can queue up for Eureka at parties. Alternatively, they can just run it solo and look for people to join parties while in the instance.

Crafting

Creating items through Disciple of Hand is arguably the most profitable source for Gil. Each crafting trade skill has its own perks and profitability. There is a total of eight Disciple of Hands, which are:

  • Carpenter
  • Blacksmith
  • Armorer
  • Goldsmith
  • Leatherworker
  • Weaver
  • Alchemist
  • Culinarian

The most lucrative trade skills would be Blacksmith, Goldsmith, Alchemist, and Culinarian eight. These four life skills mainly supply the demand for gear, consumables, food, and furniture. Since many players do not try their hand on the Disciple of the Hands tree, they rely on these crafters to create the items they are looking for.

The idea for this part is to level up specific trade skills to their maximum rank. The higher the level, the more items can be crafted, which means the higher the profit. However, players should note that all of these activities are profitable in their own right, so gamers don't need to stick to the four most lucrative trade skills.

Gathering

Since crafting trade skills are an excellent way to earn money, selling materials needed for creating items is also a worthwhile venture. While all crafting ingredients can be gathered by anyone, many crafters find collecting too time-consuming and tedious for their limited playtime. This is why people with experience in the Disciples of the Land come in.

Tradeskills involved in gathering supply the market with raw materials that many crafters use for their workshops. That is why many players would say it is ideal for Disciples of the Hand to at least have some experience in the Disciples of the Land so that they won't have to buy all the time. There are four different gathering life skills in FFXIV, which are:

  • Miner
  • Botanist
  • Fisher

Mining and Botany mainly supply the items needed to create furniture and objects. Meanwhile, fishing and botany gather ingredients required for crafting consumables and other related equipment. Both of these three disciplines are profitable. However, they are not as lucrative as Disciples of the Hand activities, so it is ideal for gatherers to dabble with crafting.

Roulettes

Duty Roulettes can be a source of large sums of Gil if done religiously by players. Participating in randomized duties often yields Gil rewards ranging from 5,000 to 9,000. Meanwhile, randomized trials can reward gamers with up to 10,000 Gil, so players need to choose how they want to spend their time carefully.

For people to access Roulettes, gamers need to complete all the level 10 MSQ, which will allow players access to the Duty Finder. This feature is where adventurers can queue up with random people for Duty Roulettes. Ideally, players should always take up the "Adventurer in Need" bonus, which usually requires raiding as a support or a tank.

Challenge Logs

As gamers go about their day trying out various things to earn Gil, they will eventually complete tasks or challenges in the Challenge Logs. The functions in these logs can be done anytime while players are doing other activities. However, adventurers should finish every challenge before the week resets to make the most out of it.

Challenge Logs can be unlocked after doing the Level 15 "Rising to the Challenge" quest from Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks. Players can receive 1,000 Gil per challenge, which is not much. However, if they can complete the weekly Challenge Logs, they will be rewarded with 15,000 Gil.
