Agility will be your best friend in OSRS. It doesn't matter what activity you like most; skilling, PVM, questing, etc. You will be running around a lot. And that means you'll be running out of energy a lot. In more ways than one, the way to alleviate this problem is by leveling up Agility. Along with arguably being the best utility skill in the game, Agility is practically a free level 99. You'll use a few specific resources here and there, but you'll be far from breaking the bank. It is very click-intensive, though. And long. This OSRS Agility Guide will help get you from 1-99 as efficiently as possible
This guide will not include every Agility training method, as many out there in Gielinor aren't worth your time. Grab your favorite tracksuit and running shoes. We've got some Agility training to do.
How to Train Agility 1-99 Easily
1-33 Questing
Most quests that give Agility experience are intermediate or grandmaster quests. Most have mid to upper mid Agility level requirements. By the time you're capable of doing them, the Agility experience they give is negligible.
It is possible to level straight to level 33 Agility by completing Recruitment Drive, The Tourist Trap, The Depths of Despair, and The Grand Tree. There are four problems with this:
- You could use the time it takes to complete these quests by leveling Agility with Agility Courses.
- If you level up Agility by questing, you're not getting Marks of Grace. That outfit is your first Agility priority.
- All four quests involve Combat. If you're a skiller or haven't trained your Combat skills yet, you won't be able to do them.
If you've done these quests before starting the Agility grind, that's fine. But I don't recommend doing these for the Agility experience if you haven't.
Levels 1-10 Gnome Stronghold Agility Course
13 and a half laps on the Gnome Stronghold Agility Course will get you to 10 Agility. The exp rates here only cap out at around 8,000/hour, so don't stay here after you reach level 10.
Levels 10-30: Draynor Village Rooftop Course
This will be your first Rooftop Course, meaning you will start getting Marks of Grace.
You will net 9,000 exp/hour here. From level 10, it will take around 102 laps to level 30 Agility. At level 20, Al-Kharid's Rooftop Course is marginally better exp, but only if you use stamina potions. At this stage in the grind, it's not worth the investment.
Levels 30-40: Varrock Rooftop Course
Varrock is when you'll want to start bringing out your stamina potions. If playing optimally, you can get about 13,200 exp/hour here. It takes roughly 101 laps to reach level 40 Agility.
Levels 40-60 Canifis Rooftop Course
Level 40 Agility will be a crossroads for your account. If you want to prioritize getting the Graceful outfit, stay here until level 60 Agility. Level 60 Agility will require 968 laps. Exp rates vary from as little as 14,000 to as high as 19,000 exp/hour.
If your focus is Agility experience, stay here until level 52 Agility which will require around 360 laps.
Canifis' Rooftop Course is the best mid-level course for farming Marks of Grace. Keep in mind that the drop rate for Marks of Grace drops the more your Agility level exceeds the required level. Once you're 20 levels above the minimum, the drop rate plummets by 80%. You can not come back here at a higher level.
Levels 50-60: Falador Rooftop Course
If you opted to go down the experience route, start using the Falador Rooptop Course at level 50-52 Agility. Peak experience gains will be around 26,000/per hour. Complete this course 392 times to reach level 60 Agility.
You're at another crossroads again. From level 52/60 onwards, optimal training methods depend on two things:
- Do you have your Graceful set yet
- How many quests have you completed, and what are your other stats like
If you're a skiller, consider pausing on the Agility grind after you get your Graceful set. Level 70 Agility is the highest Agility quest requirement, and the grind gets a lot slower without well-rounded skill investment and quest completion.
Levels 60-62/60-70/60-72/60-80: Seers' Village Rooftop Course
If you're a skiller/low-level player who hasn't completed the Kandarin Hard Diary, you should stay here until level 80 Agility. Without the Seers' Bank Teleport, you will get around 45,000 exp/hour. The Pollnivneach Rooftop Agility Course is an option at level 70 Agility. However, this course requires more attention than Seers' Village, and after factoring in course failures, the exp/hour isn't that much better.
If you have access to the Seers' Village Bank Teleport, you will get around 55,000-56,000 exp/hour. Stay here until either level 62 or 72 if you can access The Hallowed Sepulchre (Or until you have enough Marks of Grace for a Graceful set) or until level 80 if you can't.
Levels 52/62/72-99: The Hallowed Sepulchre
The Hallowed Sepulchre is the best Agility training up to 99 and far exceeds every other method. It also results in some decent profit per hour. But accessing it requires the completion of the Sins of the Father master quest. You'll also need a high Thieving level to get a good profit.
The Hallowed Sepulchre is also the most challenging Agility training in the game. There are five floors in the Hallowed Sepulchre, and you need levels 52, 62, 72, 82, and 92 Agility to access them.
While other methods are click-intensive because you have to do a lot of laps, Hallowed Sepulchre is click-intensive because you're doing much more than just mindlessly running in a rough circle. RuneLite will be your best friend here.
Once you've got the pattern down for clearing Hallowed Sepulchre, you'll need to decide if you want exp and profit or just exp. The profit is hard to turn down since you can get over 2 million GP/hour here.
If choosing profit and exp, the experience gets significantly better than the alternatives at 82 Agility. At that point, the exp should be around 65,000/hour. At level 92 Agility, if looting and getting experience, the exp hits about 75,000/hour.
If you decide to do exp and no looting, you can get around 65,000 exp/hour starting at 72 Agility. Only once you hit level 92 Agility does the increased exp from not looting become worth it.
At level 92 Agility, if you choose not to loot, you can get anywhere from 90,000-95,000 exp/hour here.
Levels 80-90: Rellekka Rooftop Course
If you cannot access Hallowed Sepulchre, the Rellekka Rooftop Course is your best option only if you want Marks of Grace.
Even if you have a Graceful set already, you need Marks of Grace to recolor the set pieces. Or you can trade your Marks of Grace in for amylase crystal packs. You can use these to make stamina potions or sell them for profit.
If you're only interested in experience, Seers' Village will be better at level 80. The Marks of Grace drop rates will be awful, but it's impossible to fail the Seers' Village course at level 80. At Rellekka's course, you'll fail pretty often. Expect experience rates of between 50,000-54,000 exp/hour.
If you're a skiller, you won't be able to access this course since you need to complete The Fremennik Trials quest first.
Levels 90-99: Ardougne Rooftop Course
If you're after Marks of Grace, the Ardougne Rooftop Course is the best place to get them.
The Ardougne Rooftop Course has the highest Marks of Grace drop rate in OSRS. If you've completed the Elite Ardougne Diary, that drop rate gets a 25% boost.
You can get between 59,000-62,000 exp/hour here. But again, only do this if you're after Marks of Grace. Or if you're a hardcore level 3 skiller.
Bonus: Barbarian Fishing
If you're looking for passive Agility training and want to train your Fishing level, Barbarian Fishing is the activity for you.
There are two methods of Barbarian Fishing: Heavy Rod Fishing and Bare-Handed Fishing. Heavy Rod Fishing requires 48 Fishing, 15 Agility, and 15 Strength. Bare-Handed Fishing requires 55 Fishing, 15 Agility, and 35 Strength. Each method gives tiny amounts of exp in both Agility and Strength. But everyone who does Barbarian Fishing is in for the long term. So those tiny exp drops add up.
If you were to train up Fishing to level 99 solely through Barbarian Fishing, your Agility level would be 70+ by the time you're finished. That gives you a high enough Agility level to meet any Agility quest requirement in the game. It would also make getting Marks of Grace for your Graceful set an absolute chore, so I can't recommend this.
Prepare for a Long OSRS Agility Grind
I won't sit here and downplay things; if you're going to start the Level 99 Agility grind, I hope you have a lot of music playlists or podcasts ready and waiting. This grind is going to be very, very long. Even at Hallowed Spelchre, the peak exp/hour rates are infinitely inferior to almost every other skill in OSRS except Runecrafting (May Guthix guide you on that grind). But the payoff is more than worth it. It'll take a while, but you'll be proud of yourself when you finally hang up your running shoes.
