Black Myth: Wukong: Mind Core Farming Guide

Black Myth: Wukong: Mind Core Farming Guide

In Black Myth: Wukong, Mind Cores are the primary currency used to purchase stat upgrades for The Destined One. You can spend these by visiting Xu Dog and creating Celestial Medicines that can boost your Health, Mana, Stamina, Defense, Stamina Recovery and Four Banes resistances. These are crucial for surviving the many secret bosses and the endgame of Black Myth: Wukong. Mind Cores are a resource found in chests and boss drops, but certain respawning enemies drop these occasionally. Here’s how you can farm for Mind Cores to max out all your stats.

Increasing Monster Drop Rate

Enemies do not drop items in Black Myth: Wukong as often as other Soulslike games do, which is why stacking as many drop chance bonuses as possible will shorten your farming time.

The Golden Carp Curio is the best for farming Mind Cores, but you’ll need to complete the secret Loong boss quest. This Curio drops from the Yellow Loong boss fight in Chapter 4.

Also, it’s best to put the Incense Talisman on your hotbar as this will allow you to teleport back to the last shrine you’ve rested in, all while not costing any Will or experience to use. This will save you the time and effort of having to run back to the shrine.

Chapter 2 Rockrest Flat Farming Route

One enemy type that is most likely to drop Mind Cores is the Shielded Spearbone. You can find this enemy in Chapter 2, and they can be the earliest source of Mind Cores for you. Though the drop chance is fairly low, you can repeatedly farm them near the Rockrest Flat shrine. This area has the most Spearbone enemies nearby and can be a good source of Mind Cores early on.

Chapter 3 New Thunderclap Temple Farming Route

As you progress through Chapter 3, you’ll eventually reach New Thunderclap Temple for your main story progression. This area has an enemy type that not only drops Mind Cores but also has the largest number of them in the area. The blind monk enemies have a fair chance of dropping them, but be aware that they can attack you while in mid-combo. You’ll frequently find them in the indoor areas of the temple, so if you’re done defeating the blind enemies in one area, head to the next interior section of the temple.

Chapter 4 Purple Cloud Mountain Farming

This location does not have many enemies to farm Mind Cores from, but there is one zone that is a bit more consistent with its drops. First, you’ll need to reach the secret area of Purple Cloud Mountain, which is accessible after defeating the Venom Daoist for the second time. Once you're inside the secret area, try to reach the Valley of Blooms shrine. From there, simply cross the bridge and follow the main path until you see a tall treeyaoguai. Defeat them for a chance of getting a Mind Core. There are two more of these enemies down the main path that you can farm in case the first one is unsuccessful.

Chapter 5 Furnace Valley Farming

The last place where you can farm is currently the most lucrative way to get Mind Cores. You’ll have to progress through the region until you reach the Furnace Valley zone. Make your way to the Valley Entrance shrine and rest there. Once you activate the shrine, follow the path into the cave with magma. The enemy that is most likely to drop Mind Cores are the shielded Yakshas and they’ll be on the main path for you to farm. If you have the Fire-Proof Mantle, you can push further ahead into the Rakshasa Palace and farm more of the shielded enemies there.

If you have the Rock Solid spell, you can use it to immediately break their shields if they hit you while in rock form. This will further speed up your farming time since you won’t have to worry about destroying their shields with your light attacks.
