In Black Myth: Wukong, Loong Pearls are a crafting material used in New Game+, which can be accessed after playing the base game, to upgrade the Loongwreath Staff and the Golden Loong Staff. Since these require completing a whole secret questline to even start obtaining them, players are likely to miss this on their first run without looking at a guide. We’ll discuss where you can find all Loong Pearls and the secrets behind them.

What are Loong Pearls used for?
Initially, it may seem like the Loong Pearls have no use beyond just collection purposes as the weapons you craft in your first run do not need them. However, these will be way more relevant in New Game+ since this stage will unlock more Mythical weapons for you to craft. In particular, the Stormflash Loong Staff is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, which requires 9 Loong Pearls to craft. Collecting the pearls in your first run will save you all the time needed to go through another New Game+ cycle.
Pre-requirements
You can only begin the hunt for Loong Pearls starting in Chapter 2. First, make your way to Sandgate Village. Keep going until you reach the King of Flowing Sands and the Second Prince of Flowing Sands boss fight. To make things much easier, it’s recommeneded that you kill the Second Prince first instead of the King.
Once you have beaten the boss, go through the Valley of Despair and jump down into the boss pit. Should you kill the Second Prince first, you can immediately start the First Prince of Flowing Sands boss. While fighting the boss, try to bait an attack from him towards the wall with small statues on it. You’ll know whether you’ve successfully completed this bit once you see a sizable crack on the wall. Defeat the boss, then head through the crack to enter a secret room with a chest in it. Open the chest to receive the most important item for this quest, the Loong Scales. Now you are ready to hunt for the secret Loong bosses.
Chapter 1 Loong Pearl Location
The first secret boss you can find is in Chapter 1, with the “Outside the Forest” shrine being the closest. Once there, keep heading forward until you see a waterfall guarded by some wolf yaoguai. You should have the Loong Scales with you, which should open up the waterfall once you interact with it. This waterfall will lead to the first boss, the Red Loong. Make sure to bring any Shock Resist gear and medicine with you. Pillar Stance is great for this fight.
Chapter 2 Loong Pearl Location
The next secret boss is in Chapter 2, near the main path toward the Stone Vanguard boss. The closest accessible shrine is the “Rockrest Flat” shrine. From there, go right and head up the stairs until you see a waterfall made of sand. Interacting with this waterfall will lead you to the next hidden Loong Cavern, this time with the Black Loong boss.
Chapter 3 Loong Pearl Locations
Starting from Chapter 3, you’ll need to keep progressing through the main areas until you reach the main boss Kang-Jin Star in the Turtle Island area. It’s recommended that you beat Kang-Jin Star first because the secret boss for this chapter is quite difficult. Kang-Jin Star will also drop a Loong Pearl upon her defeat. Once that’s done, return to the shrine and look right. You should see a single tree near the edge. Jump through and you will see a dragon-like figure sitting there. Should you have the Loong Scales, this will awaken the figure and trigger the Cyan Loong boss fight.
Chapter 4 Loong Pearl Location
In Chapter 4, you’ll need to progress through the Webbed Hollow until you reach the Relief of the Fallen Loong location. Start from the Cliff of Oblivion shrine, defeat the Right Hand of the Buddha boss, and keep going until the path splits. Take the bridge path and press forward until you reach a webbed bridge surrounded by cocoons. Go through it and you should see an outdoor area with trees. Simply keep moving forward until you find the Relief of the Fallen Loong shrine.
The Yellow Loong boss is just a few steps ahead from the shrine, but note that you cannot fight this boss until you have beaten all the other hidden Loong bosses first. This fight is the most difficult out of all the dragon bosses, so be prepared and bring as much Shock Resist as you can.
Not only will you get a Loong Pearl for your troubles, but you can also earn the Golden-Lining Transformation spell once you interact with his weapon on the ground.
