Why buy an Apex Legends account?
Apex Legends has a routine of kicking off-season after season with massive success and there’s no better time for players to get an Apex Legends account than now as they'll have an early lead—not to mention the entire current season to enjoy. This will be very much true for future seasons.
Plus, there's also the opportunity for players to get skins from the previous Battle Pass seasons that are no longer available! Since those types of cosmetic items can no longer be purchased or earned, it's unfortunate to say that the only option for gamers to get their past favorite skins is to get an Apex Legends account that has skins from the previous season that they're looking for. Of course, it also helps if they have all of the new Legends right from the get go.
Is Apex cross-platform / crossplay?
No, Apex Legends does not fully support cross-platform play.
Apex Legends does not allow cross-progression or cross-platform play across different consoles. This means that if a player has accounts on multiple platforms, such as Xbox One and PC, their progress and achievements won't be shared between these accounts. The decision to keep progress separate is partly due to maintaining a balanced Ranked play environment, as different platforms might offer varying advantages.
However, there's an exception for players on Steam and the EA app. These two platforms, both being on PC, do support cross-progression. When launching Apex Legends on Steam, players are prompted to link their EA Account, and it's crucial to link the correct account to ensure progress continuity.
What to look for in an Apex Legends account
Three types of currency
What are Apex Coins?
Being a free-to-play game, Apex Legends is no exception to micro-transactions. However, much to the surprise of everyone, EA didn’t seem to be completely greedy with their new game this time. Apex Legends has a premium currency called Apex Coins. What these Apex Coins do is that players can use them to purchase featured items in the store and Apex Packs. Do note that Apex Coins are the only currency that players can buy with real money. They can get 1,000 Apex Coins for $9.99, 2,150 for $19.99, 4,000 for $39.99, 6,000 for $59.99, and 10,000 Coins for $99.99. If they buy these Apex Coins beyond for $9.99, they’ll be getting some additional bonus Coins as well.
What are Crafting Metals?
Crafting Metals can only be earned by opening Apex Packs. Players can use these Crafting Metals to unlock cosmetic items. Each tier of skins costs a different amount of Crafting Metals. For example, if they want to craft Legendary skins, it will cost them 1,200 Crafting Metals. While Epic skins cost 400 and Common skins go for 30. While gamers can earn Apex Packs by just simply playing the game, they can purchase them with real money so they can get more Crafting Metals much faster instead of grinding. All in all, it depends on how much of a rush they’re in.
What are Legend Tokens?
Legend Tokens are Apex Legends’ only currency that gamers can’t buy for real money as they’ll get to earn them in every match that they play. Players can use these Legend Tokens to unlock characters and store-exclusive cosmetics. There are variants of cosmetics like “chromas” that they can only purchase with Legend Tokens when they’re available in the game’s store.
When it comes to unlocking Legends, the characters that players use to play Apex Legends, they don’t need to worry about grinding heavily to fully unlock a single character in the game. That’s because upon starting the game, they’ll already get to have six of the eight characters. So at this time, folks can unlock the remaining two Legends, Mirage and Caustic with this currency. Shoud they be in a rush, they can just simply purchase Apex Coins and use that.
Apex Packs
Apex Packs are the loot boxes of the game. Much like in other games like Overwatch and Destiny, it’s pretty much like gambling; a game of chance. Apex Packs contain about three random cosmetic items with different rarities. Don’t be too worried about receiving common skins or items only though, since players typically have a 100% chance of receiving at least one item that’s Rare or better. There’s a 24.8% chance they’ll get an Epic item and a 7.4% to score one of the Legendary items. The best thing about these Apex Packs is that players will never receive the same thing. Duplicate cosmetics are not a thing here and once they open an Apex Pack of two, you’re guaranteed to have items that are new to them. By opening 30 Apex Packs at most, they’re sure to cope a Legendary item.
Skins Galore: Character Skins/Cosmetics/Outfits
Despite being a free-to-play game, there are lots of ways for players to spend money here, and it all boils down to customization. One can bet as time goes by, Apex Legends will receive a ton more skins. There’s already a lot in Apex Legends already, but here are some of the notable ones that they should look out for when buying an account:
- The Plague Doctor (Bloodhound) - Apex Legends has only been out for a while, and they’re already dubbing the Plague Doctor skin a class for Bloodhound. This skin takes advantage of Bloodhound’s actual flipping raven, making this spooky but cool character one for the books.
- Bunker Buster (Gibraltar) - Anybody here need a tank? Cause Gibraltar definitely looks like one with this skin on. Bunker Buster highlights him with a hefty armor and a military insignia to go along with it. Etched with camo paint on his face, players already know when it’s on, oh it’s on. Get ready to charge in like a bulldozer in enemy lines, because the Bunker Buster skin is definitely a cosmetic that’ll make one feel just that.
- London Calling (Lifeline) - Lifeline is a medic that has quickly become a favorite among squads, and it’s easy to see why. With her tactical ability, Heal Drone that attaches to a nearby ally to heal him or her up over time, she’s a must-have if players want to have good team composition. With her looks and quirky personality, London Calling gives her this splash of punk flair that totally matches her.
- Tie Dye (Pathfinder) - Pathfinder doesn’t really have a lot of great looking skins to begin with, considering that he’s a robot armed with a grapple gun paired with many other mobility boosting features. The Tie Dye skin is an exception though. A combination of 90’s rave culture with a smiley face embedded in his chest paired together with a splash of rainbow vomit, Pathfinder altogether looks like a mess, but the good kind of mess.
- Apex Overdrive (Bangalore) - Bangalore is considered to be the Soldier: 76 of Apex Legends, and what better way to highlight her prowess than with the Apex Overdrive skin. While she has a lot of other cool skins, the futuristic space suit is unique due to its mix of white and black suit with accents of red to give the skin some pop. And come on, who doesn’t want to be the epitome of badassery while killing their enemies?

Weapon Skins
Like character skins, there are four levels of item rarity for weapon skins: common, epic, rare, and legendary. You can only obtain rare, epic, and legendary skins by opening Apex Packs, while common grade items for weapon skins can be unlocked through simply playing the game.
-
Warp Zone (Mastiff Shotgun)
-
Dynastic Cycle (R-301 Carbine)
-
LED Rez (Alternator SMG)
The Mastiff Shotgun packs punch when it comes to damage, and the weapon is also hard to find because of its rarity. And what better way to give homage to this beauty than to pair the Warp Zone skin with it? With the Warp Zone skin, your same old, same old Mastiff Shotgun will look like straight out of a Nerf section from the toy store. It’s a bit reminiscent of Overwatch, with the grayish black, white, and orange themes going on.
If you want a more oriental feel to your assault rifle, then the Dynastic Cycle is the way to go. With cherry blossoms and the rising sun details just near the handle, it’s evident that the little details in this skin are what make Dynastic Cycle so special.
If you want something more futuristic and neon-inspired, then the LED Rez is the right weapon skin of choice for your submachine gun. The skin looks like it came right out of a TRON movie, with its light blue neon finish along the edges of the smg, your enemies are sure to be too entranced with your gun before they find themselves knocked out.
What are the Best Weapons in Apex Legends?
We know how difficult it can be to decide what weapon to use when you first start playing Apex Legends. Worry not, because we’ve gathered up all the information we could to find you the best guns to use in the game. We took into account the weapons’ rarity and damage stats to see which ones are the best, and judging from what we’ve seen, here are the best weapons to use in Apex Legends so far:
- Mastiff Shotgun
- Kraber Sniper
- R-301 Carbine
Being one of the rarest guns in the game, the Mastiff Shotgun dishes out tons of damage, so it’s easy to see why it’s considered to be one of the best. While it fires on a horizontal line instead of a traditional shotgun spread, it still packs a high damage output. It’s also worth noting that, it’ll most likely be a while before you get used to it but it definitely brings a lot of power to the table so it’s worth a shot. The Mastiff Shotgun can be found from Supply Drops or loot areas that have highly-valued weapons.
Another Legendary weapon alongside the Mastiff Shotgun is the big bad Kraber. If you land a headshot with this, you can consider your enemy dead. In most cases, this sniper can easily one-shot a player at any health, provided your aim is right. For now, you can’t find any ammunition for the Kraber since it uses a special type of ammo, so it’s important to be a bit stingy and practice wise shot management. After you’ve used up all the ammo, you’ll either have to find another one or switch to another weapon.
The R-301 Carbine is a fast-firing assault rifle that does quite a bit of damage despite the fact that it uses rather light ammunition. Widely considered to be one of the best weapons back in Titanfall 2, this assault rifle boasts accuracy. Once you’ve got it fully decked out, it fires like a laser beam due to its quickness. While the R-301 works nicely in close combat, it does equally well at midrange level.
What are Legendary Skins?
Like many other games that belong in the Battle Royale genre, Apex Legends lets players customize the look of their character through skins, and this applies to weapons as well. Skins come in different rarities with Legendary being the rarest and expensive. At this time, all of the characters in the game have four Legendary skins each.
Believe it or not, there are actually benefits to wearing Legendary gear! Respawn’s own design revealed not too long ago that there are some hidden perks if you use Legendary equipment in Apex Legends. For example, if you’ve donned on a Legendary grade helmet, it’ll give you faster tactical advantages and ultimates. For armor, it’ll refill shields after an execution. For backpacks, health and shield consumables take half as long to use. And as for Legendary KO Shields, you’ll get to have a one-time self-revive.
What is the Heirloom Set/Knife?
Apex Legends features cosmetic items whose values depend on their rarity, with Common being the least rare, then followed by Rare, Epic, and the best of the best, the aforementioned Legendary. However, there’s also a hidden fifth level rarity of cosmetics called Heirlooms and they are the rarest of them all, making them extremely difficult to obtain. They’re so rare that not many players are even aware of the Heirlooms’ existence in the game! That’s because the only way that players can see them mentioned in the store or inventory is if they somehow manage to get their hands on one. Plus, the chances of getting Heirlooms are less than 1% according to the official FAQ of Apex Legends.
Currently, there’s only one Heirloom Set available and it’s called the Wraith Heirloom Set. The Wraith Heirloom Set consists of a weapon skin, a banner pose, and an intro quip. Since the game is pretty new, we can hope to see more variety available very soon. For now, the one and only Heirloom set in the game is for the Wraith. The set features a crimson red color to represent their rarity and all three of them will always come together, so you don’t have to worry about completing the set since you’ll get them all in one go.
Heirloom Sets can only be found by opening Apex Packs and you won’t be able to get or craft them anywhere else, so opening a ton of Apex Packs and relying on sheer luck is the only way for you to get the set. When it comes to probability scores, you’ll be guaranteed at least one Heirloom Set for your first 500 Packs.
